Drug offences / Opium Act

Are you looking for a lawyer for a drug offence? Look no further. SKE Advocaten knows better than anyone how to handle these cases. Whether it concerns soft drugs, hard drugs or the import or export of drugs, you will receive the best defence from us.

Possession of drugs

Because possession of drugs – whether soft or hard drugs – is a criminal offence, the Public Prosecution Service often goes to great lengths to find an offender in these cases. And make no mistake: amphetamine and ecstasy are also hard drugs.

The Opium Act

Not all drug cases are equally large or serious. The Public Prosecution Service, too, distinguishes between drug trafficking, drug possession and the (professional) cultivation of cannabis. The Dutch Opium Act gives the police and the prosecution extensive powers (and therefore latitude) to carry out their investigations.

What do we do?

If there are errors in the case file, we will find them for you. We then use them to argue for an acquittal or a reduced sentence.

Examples

We handle cases involving the possession of drugs, trafficking in narcotics (such as heroin, cocaine and MDMA), as well as cannabis cultivation (cannabis farms) and cases involving drug couriers (runners).

Other offences

In our experience, in the vast majority of cases the prosecution also tries to confiscate the proceeds (confiscation proceedings). Suspects are also often prosecuted for several offences, such as money laundering and participation in a criminal organisation. All of these offences carry heavy maximum penalties, so good legal assistance is indispensable.
